What we are learning this week in 5th grade (9/8 - 9/12)!

Rationale:  Students have a solid concept of the elements and now can apply those basic skills to design.  This lesson allows for the advancement of their skills using the medium of colored pencil to practice shading in order to create depth in their work and give it a more 3D quality.  By practicing with basic repeating lines the student will master shading techniques that they can then apply to more advanced objects/subjects.

Objectives:

  • The students will recall the six elements of art

  • The students will select a color scheme and using these colors, practice shading techniques that will illustrate their understanding of depth and dimension.
