What we are learning this week in 7th grade (9/8 - 9/12)!

 

 

Rationale: The students need to have a mastery of color mixing in order to be successful in future projects at this grade level.  In 7th grade Core Knowledge, students study many paintings and need to be able to focus on styles of painting instead of just color mixing.  This lesson gives them a foundation in colors how work together, look side by side, and what illusions that they can create.  This week students are continuing their monochromatic color panel and starting on their analogous color panel.

 

Objectives: 

 

• Students will create a triptych- they will need to measure their paper and come up with the dimensions of 3 equal rectangles that need to fit on their piece of paper.

• The student will understand advanced color mixing; how to create tints, tones and shades, as well as complimentary, analogous and monochromatic color schemes.
